Mastering the skills and understanding the role of a consultant spinal surgeon. A real world preparation
BASS Boot Camp returns in October 2026, offering a highly practical two-day course for senior orthopaedic and neurosurgical trainees and fellows preparing for the transition to Consultant Spinal Surgeon.
Becoming a consultant involves much more than developing surgical expertise. BASS Boot Camp brings together experienced spinal surgeons to explore the clinical, professional and practical realities of consultant life – including managing complications, clinical governance, developing your practice and preparing for the consultant appointment process.
Through focused presentations, case-based learning, discussion and interactive sessions, the programme will explore:
With a limited number of delegate places available, Boot Camp is deliberately kept small to encourage interaction with faculty, discussion and shared learning.
The course also provides an opportunity to meet fellow senior trainees and fellows from both orthopaedic and neurosurgical backgrounds, with networking and dinner on Thursday evening.
